Moving on.
I teach in a hallway with 4 coaches. My coworker is a coach. I know nothing of sports. Nothing. If you asked my hubby or I if a game was on, we would not know. We do not know who won the SuperBowl, World Series, Stanley Cup.
However, my coworker is a sports nut.
He always knows what season it is, always reading sports sites like...ESPN, and Sportsstuffmenliketoknow.com.
I have long pretended to know something about sports. He has long caught me in every error.
I will send a text to him that says,
"Super worried about Farves ribs. Think it'll hurt the game?"
to which he will reply,
"He'll be fine. By the way, it is Favre."
Or
"Can't wait to watch the big game in the new stadium tonight! Go Gophers!!"
to which he'll reply,
"Which sport?"
I sent all the student from his class back into his room last week with sports related things to say to him like,
"Need some help on my lay up"
"Wow, my golfer's elbow is sure sore today"
"My three pointers have been off lately. Can't figure out why."
Last week, I hear him and a couple of other coworkers talking about their fantasy football leagues. I know nothing of fantasy football, and felt quite left out of the conversation. Therefore, I decided to "bone up" on my sports trivia and impress them all with my intense knowledge of The Game tomorrow.
I'm going to go in there and be all like,
I'm going to go in there and be all like,
"The Mannings won. So did Drew, who had a Brees in Detroit. And the rookie looked good in green."
"Well, Favre didn't have an awesome opening night, but he got the job done. Go Vikes!"
and
"Glad I picked that stud for my league. He is outta this world!"
"By the way, what is your stud RB theory?"
Then? I am going to run away really fast before they ask me any questions I cannot answer. Like, "What is your stud RB theory? Or who does Drew play for?"

lol, let us know how it goes!
GIRL...if you have questions, I will try to answer :) I LOVE college, pro, and pretty much ALL sports!
Let us all know how it goes :o
~Elyse
Good luck! I love the game of football, but I know nothing about anyone.
I could care less about most sports, but if you have any football questions feel free to ask!
I don't understand football one little bit. I only watch hockey when the Red Wings are in the play offs. We're a Tigers watchin basseball family. But even then I don't know the stats at all. :) I don't need anymore knowledge.
If our kitchens ever get done, we have to post pictures.
yeah, i would've totally corrected you on the spelling of favre's name! :-)
hey wanna know how blonde i am? i read "I teach in a hallway with 4 coaches..." and i was like "what the heck?! she has to teach her students in the hallway? with coaches?" lol... anyway, hope you don't look as stupid as i just did when all that sports jargon comes out of your mouth!
Geez, I feel like you. It's a whole 'nother language. One in which I do not speak!
BTW I love your new layout. Very cool.
My hubs is obsessed with sports, when he is home, ESPN is always on. He is always reciting sports facts to me while I pretend to look interested!
First, LOVE the design. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Love. Love it.
Second? Da Bears.
Third? Mwah. Have a great week!
Good luck! I "fake" it with that stuff too!
Geez that seems like a lot of coaches for one school. Better bone up!
I grew up on sparts because my dad wanted a boy and it was just me until my brother finally came along! I used to be a lot more interested, but kids take presidence over sports!
At least you know enough to pretend and do a little bit of fakery! But yeah, you'd better be prepared to run!
Good luck, Girl. At least you know enough "catch phrases" to fake it, I'd be at a total loss.
You crack me up! I can't wait for the follow up post. Don't fall when you run away.
You crack me up!!! Laughing my butt off just picturing you saying all that and totally turning around and running.
Hee hee. When I realy want to impress the Hubby, I watch about 60 seconds of Sportscentre to try and catch a fact of two! I know nothing about sports!
Goodluck!
Whoa, where did the high heel go? I hate sports too, only my hubs loves them...I "watch" far more sports than I signed up for!
Eh, I don't even try. I gave up long ago. Although, I was really proud of myself when I was at the bakery and a mom came in and asked us to write 'First and go!' on a football cake and I was like, "Um, it's 'first and GOAL.'"
That's the extent of my sports awesomeness.
I was a cheerleader for high school football...could teach you some chants!
I too know nothing of sports and am so thankful that my hubby doesn't care too either.
The Rookie in green is the Jets new Quarterback, Mark Sanchez! He is straight out of USC and won his first start yesterday. Plus, he's hot, so that's nice! ;o)
HA! Too funny. I love that you're trying to fit in and they just humor you.
Can't wait to hear how this goes!
you and your spaziness crap me up! let us know how it all goes/went.
You crack me up girl! Good luck on your mission to "impress" the coaches. If they do catch you then maybe you should ask them what they know about running or home remodeling...or how to get away from an ax murderer...that should stump them :)
Love the look of your blog. I love the orange. Oh sports are here. We watch them in our house. Oh it is that is that time of the year.
Too funny! I know enough about sports. I watch if my husband is watching, and sometimes I even cheer along. I've learned a lot, but NEVER EVER quiz me on it. I don't know that much. But I might beat you. ;-)
my husband is a sports fanatic and is always talking about sports!!! He's a highschool head coach so I'm always around it I think it's grown on me, I still don't know all the rules and technical terms but I do get into his high school football games! You should impress them on your running abilities, you may not know sports but I'm sure you can outrun them any time of the day:) Just saying cuz I would totally be bragging:)
I know what you mean about acting like you know what they are talking about with the sports stuff. I try to stay up on all of it, but man it is tough! Oh, and I am training for my first half marathon in October...any advice?
LOL!!! Can't wait to hear what they say! I am surrounded by sports fanatics. Myself? Not one.
This entire post may as well have been written in korean. I knew not of what you spoke. How about we start a "fantasy gossip girl' league?? Anyone? anyone?
SO funny...I know exactly what they are talking about. My Father was a football coach growing up..I learned i formations when I was about a 4th grader. I love sports and my Hub has season tickets to the Falcons here. I can NEVER escape football. LOL.
Too funny! I am also not that into sports. Neither is hubby. Neither was my dad. Sure we play sports but don't do a lot of TV watching. Hubby joined the fantasy football league at his work since that's what all the "cool kids" were doing. He had no freaking clue who he was picking or why. Thank goodness for the internet since I think he went to some fantasy football strategy website and used their picks. I hope he wins!
I don't speak football either, but when hubby made me sit through the season opener for the Texans on Sunday, I did learn a new football word...
DISASTER.
dont do it girl!
You can throw in your knowledge about running, remodeling, mouse catching, asher-stance happenings, and see how much they don't! :)~
I am just like you - I know nothing about sports, like, enough to actually talk about them in any detail!
I LOVE the new look of your blog, girl! Way to go!
Nice new blog format, Sara!!
You know, I owe you big time. I was going to be a no show on marathon day, then a week ago you inspired me to run it my best anyway, no matter what. So thanks for that. :)
Yea, we don't know anything about sports in our house either. We don't watch ANY. None of my kids are into any particular teams.
We used to be big SPURS fans, but not so much anymore. I mean we still love 'em, just don't watch as much since DR retired (that's David Robinson, Sara).
BUT my new favorite sport in the world would be FOOTBALL---- because Mathew plays and that makes it SO FUN TO ROOT FOR HIM!
LOL same here, I know nothing of sports.. I go to a baseball game now and then but other then that I dont watch it, did a long time ago and then I gave up :-)
